NCAA Football 2019 Attendance, Week 10: November Cooldown

Week ten saw average attendance plummet by 1,500 from 23,087 to 21,520 across all of Division I, with Texas A&M being the only team with a 100,000 seat stadium playing at home last week. Let’s take a look at how everyone else fared, shall we?

Worst overall Division I attendance: 934 – Robert Morris vs Long Island. Fewer than 1,000 fans turned out to see Robert Morris win their fourth straight game, this one over D1’s newest football team the from Long Island. One could even call them… the baby… Sharks¹. A 28-17 win sent the home fans away with a smile on their face, and we’ve got an action shot for you:

Worst overall FBS attendance: 10,184 UMass vs Liberty.  The surprise here is that attendance was as high as it was. Who would’ve thought that a team that’s one of the worst in FBS would still be able to sell 60% of their stadium for a game against not-a-huge-draw Liberty. The Flames took the win as expected, 63-21, sending the Minutemen faithful home disappointed. An action shot, at the end of the following clip:

Worst overall Power Five attendance: 31,199 – Wake Forest vs NC State. This one is the annual “Wake practically sells out the place but they have the smallest stadium of any P5 school” Despite being 96% full, Wake was even outdrawn by Illinois vs Rutgers. Yuck. A brief shot of the crowd:

Emptiest FCS stadium as a percentage of capacity: Cornell (6.8% full, 1,745 in attendance)

Emptiest FBS stadium as a percentage of capacity: Rice (24.8% full, 17,385 in attendance)

Emptiest FBS Power Five stadium as a percentage of capacity: UCLA (50.9% full, 47,118 in attendance)
