Time again for your week in review on NCAA Division I Football attendance. With FCS playoffs and conference championships mixed up with hurricane makeup games, there was plenty of action despite the relatively small number of games. This will be our last weekly edition, though we will post a bowl result (assuming bowls report their attendance, which not all have done in the past). Enough chit-chat, let’s get to it:
Worst overall Division I attendance week 14: 4,401 – Sam Houston vs South Dakota – The Bearkats hosted the Coyotes of South Dakota and despite it being the second round of FCS playoffs, the fans weren’t impressed. As you can see at the beginning of the video below, ample seating was available. Sam Houston even took the win home 54-42. Luckily, they will have the opportunity to turn the trend around as they host Kennesaw State next weekend.
COYOTE ALERT!!! Streveler barrels his way into the endzone to bring the Yotes within 6! South Dakota has scored 21 straight points! #GoYotes #FeaRED pic.twitter.com/yaqN4Z35oh

Worst overall FBS attendance week 14: 14,004 – FIU vs UMass – A hurricane makeup game involving a team that had already clinched its bowl berth facing another that has nothing further to play for… Who would’ve thought that attendance would be wretched? Fans opted to save their money for FIU’s bowl game, up I-75 in Tampa in two week’s time. FIU finished their season strong with a 63-45 win.
Worst overall Power Five attendance week 14: 48,013 – Pac 12 Championship – USC vs Stanford. The Pac 12 Championship has already gotten a reputation as the worst fan support of all the major conference championships, and once again it lived up to the hype. Only filling up 70% of the stadium, and with tickets selling below $20 before kickoff, the Pac 12 continues to fight longstanding east coast bias preventing fans from having any interest in their games. Or maybe it’s the Friday 5 PM kickoff. Either way, USC won 31-28, sending the Stanford nerds home to their high-paying tech startup jobs. Utter tragedy.
Emptiest FCS stadium as a percentage of capacity, week 14: Grambling (34.3% full, 24,610 in attendance)
Emptiest FBS stadium as a percentage of capacity, week 14: MAC Championship (25% full, 16,225 in attendance)
Emptiest FBS Power Five stadium as a percentage of capacity, week 14: Pac 12 Championship (70.1% full, 48,031 in attendance)
And now, for your browsing pleasure, every game and the corresponding attendance for week 14.
Enjoy!
