Purdue can't get no respect, no respect at all
For those watching the Purdue-Marshall game on Fox Sports One (assuming you even know where to find it on your TV), they were treated to this gem (h/t to @Air_Force_Juan for the image)
For the record, Purdue has 38,770 students. I timed how long it took me to find this information on the Purdue Wikipedia page. Here's what I got, being generous: 2.73 seconds. FS1's graphic guy didn't have 3 seconds to spare for Purdue.
This is only further evidenced by noting that the "nickname origin" is from "shoveling coal" which is not something that a typical boilermaker (non capitalized) does. Open this article, hit ctrl F and find "coal". No results. What the graphic guy did (again, due to a lack of time) was see that at the same time that Purdue got the nickname "Boiler Makers" they were also called "Coal Shovelers" as a completely separate group of manual laborers. It would be like calling them "Auto workers or Wild Game Hunters." The two are not the same, but I wouldn't expect the fine people at Fox Sports One be concerned with issues like that.
But hey, Purdue fans, we're used to it at this point
