The Biggest Blowout Victory in Every College Football Team’s History (& Last 50 Years)

College football is right around the corner, and with it: the blowouts of the first few weeks of the season. Sure, there are a few good out of conference games, but there are also plenty of schools that throw together a weak slate of teams to pad their bowl chances. With that, there’s always history to be made, and w

The biggest blowout in college football history is the famed 222-0 Georgia Tech win over Cumberland. Coached by John Heisman (yep, that Heisman), Georgia Tech hung 63 points in each quarter of the first half.  The second half was shortened to 12 minute quarters, but Tech still managed to score on every possession.  But Georgia Tech wasn’t the only one putting big numbers on the scoreboards in the early days of college football: 54 schools on the list have won a game by 100 points or more in their history.

Now, a list of 54 teams with their best blowout being prior to 1950 may be interesting, but I’m hoping you’re also interested in what’s happened in the last 50 years. So, to the right of the all-time record, I’ve included the biggest blowout of the last 50 years. For some teams, it’s the same, but there’s quite a difference for others.

Note: I used FBS games only for teams that transitioned into or out of (and then back into).  In addition, I included UAB out of the courtesy of my heart.

Highlights:

Hawaii in 1926 started their season with a 101-0 win over the awesomely named “Field Artillery,” and two weeks later won AGAIN 101-0 against Heleani AC.  In between those two games, Hawaii lost 2-0 to what was presumably a team of University of Hawaii alumni, aptly named “Hawaii Alumni” 2-0.  Hawaii went on the play every game in Honolulu that season, most against fellow Hawaiian teams, but finishing with South Dakota State.

November 8 is a good day to be an Oklahoma fan.  In 1986 AND 2003, Oklahoma won their respective football games by 77, defeating Missouri and Texas Au0026amp;M respectively.

UTSA hasn’t been long in FBS, but their biggest blowout has been about the longest it could’ve been. The Roadrunners won their first FBS game 27-7 for a margin of victory of 20 points, a feat they have not exceeded since then.

Okay, you ready for the table? The first group of columns is the all-time record for each team, while the right group of columns is the last 50 years. Take a look at your team, and post the best/funniest/saddest in the comments below.
